BIOL 215 - Genetics Study of the basis of heredity, with emphasis on structure and function of DNA and Mendelian Genetics. Topics include molecular genetics, Mendelian genetics, human genetic diseases, and microbial genetics. Lab experiments and exercises in prokaryotic, eukaryotic, and molecular genetics.
- Understanding molecular genetics.
- Understanding and solving problems in Medelian (classical) inheritance.
- Have a familiarity with genetic technologies.
- Understanding population genetics and evolution.
- Develop an appreciation for the relationship of genetics to other disciplines, e.g., biochemistry, ethics, economics, and medicine.

Corequisite: Student must be enrolled in BIOL 215L concurrently.
Prerequisite: Student must have successfully completed BIOL 150 with a C or higher or Instructor Approval.
